Hemet City Council newcomer Shellie Milne’s qualification to be appointed as a member of the Western Regional Conservation Authority board?
She owns an excavation company.
The committee implements the Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan that protects 146 native plants and animals and preserves a half million acres of their habitat.
The appointment by Mayor Robert Youssef created a bit of a flap at the Tuesday, Jan. 8, council meeting. Incumbent council member Linda Krupa objected. Krupa wanted to continue her work on the committee that will affect development on Hemet’s west side.
Milne had let Youssef know during her city-council campaign that she wanted the committee position.
Youssef gave Milne the nod.
