Protection of Private Property Rights

“The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.”— John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America, 1787

In response to the frustration and helplessness expressed by many land owners regarding the land use process in the county, Shellie will establish a new concept called a “Property Rights Advisory Committee” to review and advise on how the county manages and delivers land use processing and development cases in the 3rd District.  The mission of this committee, comprised of volunteer professionals,  will be to serve as a counterbalance to popular or idealistic trends in regulatory interpretation and its application for all land use cases within the District and to assist in making district residents aware of new local, state and federal laws that impact land use.  As an advisory committee, they will promote and advocate as a voice on behalf of property owners in the use, enjoyment and development of their private property.
